bittersweet colours

Today’s look is all about embracing the spirit of the season through color, movement, and delicate layering. My outfit began with a simple yellow dress, but it truly came to life with the addition of one unexpected layer: a light pink silk cape collar from my latest Bittersweet Collars collection. Yellow is one of those colors that lifts your mood before you even step outside. My dress is uncomplicated, exactly what summer dressing should be. Whether you’re heading to a garden, a casual dinner, or just enjoying the slow pace of a warm afternoon, a yellow dress feels like a walking piece of sunshine. But as much as I love its simplicity, I wanted to add a touch of softness and personality, something that could shift the tone of the look without adding too much weight or structure. Instead of reaching for a cardigan or scarf, I layered the dress with a silk cape collar in the softest shade of blush pink. The collar gently frames the neckline and shoulders, adding a romantic touch that feels vintage-inspired yet completely modern.

Silk is perfect for summer layering because it’s breathable and light, yet it brings a subtle shimmer and beautiful fluidity. The cape collar doesn’t compete with the dress; it enhances it. Together, they create a look that feels polished, dreamy, and just a little bit whimsical.

Along the way, Caroline and her bunny-matching dresses joined me in the garden, looking as though she'd just stepped out of a storybook.

Here’s to savoring what’s left of summer, one light, lovely layer at a time.

I didn’t overthink what to wear; I just wanted something that felt like summer, like me, and like it belonged somewhere between the harbor and an ice cream stop. So I grabbed my white linen vest, the gingham skirt, and, of course, my DIY hat, probably the most “me” thing in this outfit.

The vest is breezy but structured,  the kind of piece that quietly says summer staple. I added a vintage, colorful fish pin for a more playful touch. The gingham skirt brought a sweet, nostalgic edge to the look, swinging with every step down Bearskin Neck.

The natural tones in the blue-and-white palette kept the sun off while I browsed little shops and watched boats drift by.

Rockport has this easy charm, not just in how you want to dress while you're there, but in everything around you. The colors, the breeze, it all invites you to slow down and just enjoy being part of the scene.

We spent the day at the marina recently, dressed in coordinating red, blue, and cream hues, and it couldn’t have felt more fitting for a 4th of July weekend.

Caroline looked effortlessly adorable in her Charlotte sy Dimby star-printed dress in cream, with delicate red stars scattered across the fabric like a little galaxy of festive charm. The print was playful yet timeless, especially set against the backdrop of gently bobbing boats and sunlit docks.

I chose to wear this bold red mini dress from Sezane, simple, breezy, and perfect for the warmth of July. The vibrant color caught the light just right and gave off the ideal Americana vibe. Paired with neutral sandals, a straw bag, and the most chic sunhat from Sarah Bray Bermuda, it’s a look I’ll be reaching for again and again this summer.

And of course, we couldn’t forget the littlest (and arguably the cutest) member of our crew,  Rosie. She’s Caroline’s beloved bunny plush, and for the occasion, she was dressed to match in a tiny coordinating star-print outfit complete with a cowboy hat. She stole the show and had people stopping us to ask where we found such a perfect match.

Whether you’re planning a 4th of July picnic, a marina walk, or just need some red, white (cream!), and blue inspiration, this color combo never fails. It’s classic, fresh, and just the right amount of festive. No fireworks needed!

Until next time,

❤️💙🤍⛵✨

Starting the new year with a recap of my 2023 outfits! I love this kind of post where I look back at my favorite outfits, color combinations, or matching looks with my mini-me, Caroline (coming up next). For me, all the outfits have a storyline, and can’t wait to create new ones this year!
This is my creative outlet and I love exploring, and experimenting, allowing my imagination to run free, where I don’t abide by the rules of today’s fashion. Artful creations in the form of outfits.
I hope you will enjoy them along for another year and wish you all a Happy, Healthy, and Colorful New Year!

With this post I’m saying goodbye to Massachusetts and perhaps to all the summery outfits. We couldn’t have left without visiting Crane Estate, this marvelous historic landmark with wonderful views and lovely gardens. With this last location we introduced Caroline to all our favorite places and we made so many beautiful memories all together here. We are grateful for this week spent in MA and we hope to visit again, maybe next year. This destination is definitely great for families with kids and not only. Until next time Massachusetts!

We enjoy spending time outdoors by visiting public gardens as well as hanging out in our own garden at home. Here are some shots from one Sunday when we brought the garden set under this lovely floral tree, and enjoyed cold drinks. The floral pitcher & glasses are vintage and lately I purchased a few floral sets like this which can only mean I am planing to spend more time outdoors because this is the season of garden parties & picnics. The beautiful ramie floral dress is from one of my favorite lately discovered brands and you have seen me wearing another piece from them, the one from Caroline's birthday seen Here. So, yes it is a floral celebration all over again!

The 2020 favorite outfits recap is here! Year after year I do this kind of post highlighting my most loved looks, and there are plenty outfits that I will wear again. I loved being in the middle of nature season after season with just a few escapes in the city (starting from march). I look forward to see what this year will offer us.
As always, we can only hope that this new year is better, not just for me but for everyone. I am also grateful for all the good that happened (yes, there are great things that happened too), and grateful for you and your support for another year!
Happy New Year to you and yours!

Better late than never! A blue and white picnic is something that I had planned from middle of summer but only last month I got everything together for it! Again we went to a place we took photos before (see it here), and we spent few hours doing nothing but relaxing (Bogdan and I) and the kids running most of the time,  catching and playing with grasshoppers. This is how we spent one of our afternoons after 6 hours of kindergarten from home (at that time) Now we are back in class...

We all need to go outside and get some fresh air!
